Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, Batman!

The last couple of days have been awesome. I don’t mean to brag, but summers off are really a huge perk to being a teacher. Since my wonderful eight week holiday began on Friday, I have been focusing on my hobbies again. By “hobbies”, I actually mean “hobby”… as in singular… as in LEGO. I received the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters for my birthday, and have been building that little by little (review to come soon). I have also been working on my modifications to the Bike Shop & Café. Today, I decided to work a little on my Instagram feed…

BATMAN!!!

Growing up, Batman was always my favorite comic book character. I love that LEGO has a DC Comics theme. In fact, this theme is largely responsible for me returning to LEGO in recent years. As soon as the DC Comics sets started to hit the shelves, I found myself wishing that LEGO had made them when I was younger. Not long after, I came to the realization that no one ever said LEGO had to be for kids!

My photo shows the Batman Minifigure that came in Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas (76026). I placed him standing atop the LEGO Store from City Square (60097). I wanted to make it look like a nighttime, rooftop scene. I had to experiment a little with the lighting, but I think I got it right. The blueish moonlight was actually made by shining light through a transparent blue LEGO dome from the old Aquanauts theme. The Batsignal in the background was made using a mini-Batsignal that I bought a while back at Chapters (unfortunately, it is not LEGO).

I did experiment with other positions and colours of light as well. Below are my runners-up. I am still not sure if I like the blue or red light more. The red light reminds me a little of the colour tone used in Batman: The Animated Series.

Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know which one you like best. You can also check out other photos I have taken on Instagram or Pinterest. You can download a free Batman colouring page by clicking here.

Until next time,
